What are the minimum requirements to get a real estate license in Hawaii?

To become a licensed real estate salesperson in Hawaii, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Complete a 60-hour pre-licensing course from an approved school

  • Pass the Hawaii Real Estate Salesperson Exam

  • Submit a license application through the
    Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs

What if I’m not ready to use my license yet?

In Hawaii, you can:

  • Place your license in an inactive status

How do I schedule my state exam?

Exams are scheduled through:

Steps:

  • Create an account on PSI

  • Select Hawaii Real Estate Exam

  • Choose your test date and location

  • Pay the exam fee

  • Bring required identification on exam day

When can I become a real estate broker in Hawaii?

To qualify for a broker’s license, you must:

  • Have at least 3 years of active experience as a licensed salesperson

  • Meet transaction or experience requirements

  • Complete the required broker education

  • Pass the broker licensing exam

What continuing education (CE) is required?

  • Your initial license expires on December 31 of your license year

  • No CE required for your first renewal

  • After that:

    • Complete Continuing Education (CE) requirements every renewal cycle
